Looks like maybe Jim Scancarelli reads this comments page, since it looks like he’s going to bring everyone together like so many have been requesting. Way to go, Jim!

The first story I remember reading as a boy was when Slim lost the basket Skeezix was left on Walt’s doorstep in, when Clovia was about to deliver Gretchen. Rufus and Joel were in that story (they had found the basket). Rufus looked to be in his mid 20s back then. He looks like early 50s now, so his aging seems real time. Joel still looks the same to me.

Kitty and Black Kitty, Last we knew Black Kitty was in control of the Rufus “homestead.”

Poor Old Walt, where have all these people been while he was sitting alone with just Gertie for company. I hope they have time to mend their ways and give him what he wants most…time with family and friends.

How old will Walt be next year?

Devon…if you read my post CAREFULLY yesterday…you would of seen that I did not call you racist or a member of KKK as I stated at the end of my sentence. As you do have somewhat of a heart…serving homeless people. But others calling you a jerk, I’m beginning to see where they get that point about you.

Anyway, back to the story. How old is Joel anyway? Anyone know?

ORteka, wasn’t Joel a Dick Moores character? Rufus may be too, but I remember seeing a similar-looking character in some late 1940s or early 1950s strips– though I think he was very dour. Rufus may be based on an earlier Frank King character (?).

I think Walt is only in the hospital because some of the test result numbers are higher than the MD likes.

I started reading GA in the sixties. Joel, Rufus, and Kitty have been static.

Rufus appeared at least in the ’40s. I think Joel is a Moore creation.
