Record player: Have a *pop* holly jolly *pop* *tic* Christmas.
Nancy: Aunt Fritzi calls those POPS on a record "BACON FRYING"!
Sluggo: Christmas songs sound TASTIER with "BACON FRYING"!
Record player: OH! *tic* BY *pop* GOLLY.
After all these years, I still remember records I listened to in the 70’s, like Three Dog Night and The Moody Blues, and even though I hear them now in digital, my mind still remembers where every pop and crackle was in my personal collection. I even remember Santana Abraxas where I had to manually advance the needle because the album stuck, and I still recall it when I hear the song on CD.
One more thing: there are songs that I still expect the 8-track to switch tracks on.
Montgomery Scott:Thank heaven!Spock: Mr Scott, there was no deity involved. It was my cross-circuiting to B that recovered them.Leonard McCoy: Then thank pitchforks and pointed ears!
It’s a common habit of mine to facetiously attach divine invention to something clearly man-made. I’ll say, “That’s why God invented air conditioning” or “That’s why God invented indoor plumbing.”My quip was more of the same.

Pops on old records may hold memories, but I prefer my music pristine. Thank God for binary code.

So I’m old. You will have memories too, some day.

I always thought country music sounded better with a little static. Somehow it adds a sense of time and distance, with a little mystery.

I call those popping sounds as as what they are a dirty record.
