Oh, my. My oh my. It took too long for this to sink in.

When I was a senior in high school,1959, My favorite teacher also drove school bus, worked in the bank on Saturdays, and helped farm in the summer.

No laughing matter!! Partly because of the cost of living, and obscene real estate prices, many teachers around here are living in their cars, or sharing rooms with other teachers, or commuting miles to get to their school. Low teacher salaries that have not kept up with the cost of living also contribute to this sad scenario.
