Lil, you bring such humanity to eulogies…a real breath of fresh air!

She’s the most popular funeral speaker in town. Mostly because people enjoy hearing the officiant say, “Thank You, Lil!”

Basil Wolverton could draw his portrait without changing a thing.

I can’t read this and not think of dear old Vivian Vance. We were lucky enough to see her at a summer stock theater when I was about 7. Intermission was almost over, and my sister and I were crossing the nearly empty lobby, when we saw her heading back to the stage. She walked in such a slow, stately manner, with her head held ever so high. We worked up the courage to approach her, and, gazing up into the biggest, blackest nostrils we had ever seen, timidly asked if she would autograph our program. She just peered down her nose at us and said she didn’t have time, then proceeded at her turtle’s pace. (I know, we were imposing on her, and she didn’t owe us anything.) I’ll just never forget those nostrils. From our vantage point, they seemed almost big enough for a small child to go spelunking in.
