Man: What are you working on over there? Man 2: I call it, "The Book of Pure Truth". Man: Hey, so am I! Man 2: Uh...there can only be one book of pure truth. Man: Well, mine is the book of absolute truth! Man 2: Hmmph...pure is truthier. Man: No it's not! Man 2: Yes it is! Man: Is not!! Man 2: Is so!! Man: There's only one way to settle this. Man 2: Ok...how? Man: Compare them. Man 2: Good idea. I'll even let you be the final judge on it. Man: Deal!

I am a rock, I am an island. He won because of the weight of his arguments, I guess……Rock on!……Hey, isn’t “pure truth” redundant?

Buddhist Scripture says, “Do not believe anything just because it is in Scripture.” It further suggests that you check that and other things out and see if they work for you. Empirical religion! Who wudda thunk?

You obviously know nothing about history or religions, and aren’t afraid to share your ignorance.

Of course, Wiley is simply saying that all other truths BESIDES HIS are wrong. Don’t you see that he’s worse that those he draws?

The moral of the story? “Might makes right.” And of course the guy in purple will now claim that his version of the truth is the only correct one, since obviously God was on his side and allowed him to win the argument.

Early times of religion. Nothing has changed; while millions upon millions have perished in vain to prove who is continually right, wrong, good, bad or whatever.

Not anywhere near a valid comparison. Idiotic to suggest it to be so.

Both books have a certain truthiness, it’s the factiness they’re missing.

It’s not about “truth” — it’s about killing. Ironically they may actually be agreeing on what the “truth” is but they’ll never know.

To somewhat paraphrase the Dalai Lama, I can recognize and respect your religion, as long as it does no harm or call for violence, but it still doesn’t mean I agree with everything you say or believe.
The problem is those who refuse to accept others, even for consideraton, and are more than willing to kill for THEIR convictions.

I didn’t call anyone an “idiot”. I called it an idiotic analogy. There are too many basic differences that should be apparent to anyone who reads anything other than the comics.

Like Neils Degrasse Tyson: “You are free ho have your own opinions, but not your own facts.”That may be a misquote, but the meaning is clear. Facts = Data.Truth = interpretation of Data.Truth can be wrong if there is not enough Data to make a valid interpretation. We have infinitely more data than when the “Books of Truth” were written. However well intentioned, by now there are ample facts to render a number of Truths incorrect and rewrites are certainly in order. I wouldn’t recommend a single adult alive today to have that responsibility due to the amount of incompetence and greed that seems to run rampant nowadays.

Truth is easy to come by. People will press it into your hands as you walk down the strip, promising it will be live, uncovered and in your room.Facts are more like money, though. You will be very likely leaving with fewer than those you held with certainty when you arrived.
