Herck, it only takes him three hours to trim ten feet…

Whoa, hey, that could actually work… I bet Home Depot doesn’t carry it however.

I edge some sections with shears, but the big stuff gets machine trimmed. I don’t like having to stop all the time to get the cord unwound.

Well, it’s just because he combines his yardwork with his membership in the Ballard Street Pulley and Magnifying Glass Club.

It appears that’s not the only tension in play.

I pay my landscapers by the hour. I do not want them to see this image,

I am cursed by obsessive lawn mowing neighbors on two sides. Every five days, it seems, and they take forever to do the job! I prefer to keep my windows open at this time of year, but they make it difficult. I know I will regret selling my cabin in the woods.

All I can say is, this is NOT Cleo’s favorite silent film!

Ooh… nice to see Charlie Chapbasset, as the star of today’s

May 21st th  2020 “CLEO and COMPANY”

In a great poster by Stelbel!

We haven’t seen many Chapbasset posters…

iconic as he was in the early basset cinema.

He was a master of silent slapstick…

nobody could slap a stick or fetch one like Charlie!…

he was an inspiration to generations of aspiring pups.

(11 of whom, BTW, came from his own prolific litters.)

of course this film had human imitators….

who just called their version “Circus” …

Humans don’t seem to be able to get much good work out of flea actors.

Maybe not even out of Charlie’s co-stars…

cos, like Tigressy, I guess, I couldn’t find a poster that mentioned any.

    Maybe they were nondescript…

I’m sure they couldn’t find a human woman beautiful enough to take the place of Merna Kennel.

Charlie Chapbasset was the far bigger star, but I can’t say anything bad about his human imitator, Charlie Chaplin….

Cleo worked with him, and still has fond memories.

When she was an aspiring puplet herself, in one of her earliest film roles…

she somehow snagged the title role in an otherwise all-human Charlie Chaplin film….

    I guess talent shows.

    Down Memory Lane:

I really love how she looks in the poster for it….

    So young and sweet.

Imagine… our Cleo… still young and sweet….and innocent.

    As far as we know.

What a nice poster, Stel. You’ve captured the expression of Chapbasset so well. At first I thought there were fireworks being shot off, then I read the title. Silly girl.

For those of you who are interested: sometimes, the movie posters for Cleo & Co. are not exactly like their human poster counterparts. They might include elements or information from other versions and, of course, the cast and crew are always “different”. So, if you happen upon a poster that’s similar to the one that’s posted for C&C, it may not be an exact copy.

I’m saying this to explain why you’re finding cast names listed on mine, whereas the similar posters you have found don’t have that listing.

But, then again, you all probably knew that.

Thanks, everybody, for all the nice comments. I really appreciate them. And, thanks, Susan, for posting the link for “the Basset” poster. That’s always been a particular favorite of mine.
