Skeezix calls him “Uncle Walt” because Walt found Skeezix in a basket on his doorstep - he’s not Skeezix’ father (of course, he’s not his actual uncle either).
I thought Walt IS Skeezix’s uncle, or so they found out following Phyllis’ passing when it was revealed that she was his biological mother’s sister, which would make Walt his uncle by marriage.
I’m curious about the letter now too. Glad y’all mentioned that or I would’ve missed that as being a clue to the new story. Reading the comments here really are helpful and as enjoyable as reading the comic. Thanks group!
Maybe the letter is from Washington and wondering if any contributions were sent to Skeezix for the War Memorial and they need it to lower the national debt first.
Walt and Skeezix Volume 4 is now ready. Click on to Amazon to get a discount rate copy. Covers 1927-28. Dailys only but you can see Sundays for the same period by visiting rogerclarkart.com.
Every time even a troll visits this page– even if only to grind and clench, and more often spasmodically flap and unclench, over Scancarelli’s work– he is converted into a number for the advertisers. He adds to the totals of regular visitors and total comments. Without concern over the dubious value in the iteration of a particular gloomy or snarky song and dance routine, the advertisers (at least) are happy to see everyone. They have the chance to promote their products. So, thanks to all the visitors for keeping my favorite strip going strong! I may or may not enjoy you, but I enjoy the result.

I bet the letter has something to do with the next story line.

I don’t recall seeing Skeezix in the middle of the menagerie melee

There was no room left in the melee to wedge in one more item…Jim already had in everything but the kitchen sink.

Drop-dead korn. How the heck would the mailman know what Walt’s religion is?

I am happy if only for the irony of your situation.
