You know, Teena, if you explain the conversation to your Mom, she’ll probably laugh.

Isn’t she a bit old for the stool in the corner routine?

She should have argued against self-incrimination, but Mom would be like “Fine, I’ll just call the principal and find out what happened.”

At least Mom didn’t say “Wait until your father gets home!”. I always thought that was a really bad thing to do, if for no other reason than it can make kids fear their male parent. There was a “Family Circus” that addressed this: Mom tells them this, and when Dad gets home, instead of being greeted, all the kids are hiding in fear, and he has no idea what’s going on! Punishment should be shared by the parents, and it has to be fair.

By the way, I do know that Hugh works at home as an artist, so there’s no “when your father gets home” part.

Teena has learned a powerful lesson here.
