Méliès is down, are we sure that means dead fish dead?

Correct me if I’m wrong, but according to the lore of the strip, isn’t Sam married?

I suspect that Sam’s hat blowing out the shattered window is metaphorical for something; maybe his defenses are down as he tends to Fritz Ann’s wound. At least it does appear today that she will survive. And while Tracy calls for the medics, what about the bad guys? What are they doing during this lull in the exchange of fire?

She must have been hit on the edge of her vest.

That’s what I was thinking. 22ph says she was hit in the arm, but I really think she may have been hit in the edge of her chest. That might be why Sam is apologizing because he’s applying pressure on the edge of her breast, which is sort of an intimate part of the body.

Even if it isn’t symbolic, I’m glad to see Sam’s hat blown away, if only as a bit of realism. I’m surprised it didn’t blow off while he was on that ladder.

If Fritz Ann is hit on the edge of her chest, Sam needs to do the John Wayne thing (as seen in True Grit), and treat it as if it was a rattlesnake bite.

I just wanted to thank Willy007, Gweedo, Starman1948 Ronnie, TraderJoe, avenger09, and the too late song for your notes of appreciation yesterday and today. I’ll try to update the building map every couple of days since I know it’s useful to some people.

Today would have been my mom’s 88th birthday. It’s the first time in my life I recognize it without her here. I can’t lie, I miss her something huge! She was an enormous fan of the daily comics and loved reading Dick Tracy. I got my love for comics from her. Thanks mom, Luv ya!

So we won’t be seeing Méliès a-round anymore?

Quite a kind, and sweet strip today. Sam is more than a cop, he is the symbol of all good police officers, despite the hell they are receiving today. Thank you Team-Tracy for showing this.

I hope someday we see a thread about truly bad cops, the ones that should be put away and off the force.

Fritz Ann has always annoyed me a little, but seeing today’s strip, I’m suddenly caring about her. Hope she makes it.

GOSH! Mike & Joe please don’t kill Fritz Ann off, especially since Joe started drawing her much more pretty than when she first arrived and had the hots for detective Catchem. .I like to say that I (most other people too) will take time for what is important to me. Even though Dick Tracy on GoComics and the real cool and awesome posters are very important too me I have been speed reading the dailies and when things slow down a little here I will rejoin you all. I bet if there were 100 hours in a day I could get my chores done..Our farm is a labor of love, and I really enjoy being popular with my critters, but Lucky Rooster has an attitude towards me so I give him his space. He lets me pet him and he lets tell him what a good boy he is BUT only when he’s on the roost in the coop at evening time … and only after he bites me one time. He takes good care of his hens. when a bird of pray flies overhead he makes some sounds and then his girls get hidden in various places, and then he struts around looking upward just waiting and inviting a fight..Man, oh man I hope that doesn’t cause him his demise. My dogs like him and when all of that is happening Lulu and Monty (our dogs) pay close attention to what is going on. . Sam’s hat will blow here and there, a sport of the breezes. Some time later, one of the principal bad guys will make an escape in one of Diet Smith’s floaters, and the hat will blow into his face and make him hit something or fall out.

Don’t be a schmuck, Sam, give her a hot one!

But slip that mike off first or you might have some ’splaining to do to Tracy….

In today’s 3rd Panel both Sam & Fritz Ann’s Eyes are green.Is this historically correct, or has GoComic’s colourist of the day taken the mood of the strip to heart and coloured accordingly?I notice that three different shades of green were used for Sam’s hat, Fritz-Ann’s eyes and Sam’s eyes… but nonetheless, they are all green! ____________________

@Avenger09 I understand your feelings completely. Aug. 29 was the anniversary of my mother’s death and she would’ve been 89. Every year at this time I find myself remembering and missing her. Time passes but when you love someone you’ll feel it forever.
