I’m a little troubled by the first panel. It just seems a little too exploitative for me in dialogue and depiction, although I’m positive that wasn’t anyone’s intention.

They were invented by the Lunarians and given directly to the police as a gift — Diet had no part in the transaction. Below is the first appearance of the air cars, from Sunday 8/30/1964.

If you look closely, that flash seems to come from the part of the Ace Tower exposed when the “hatch” or wall panel was blown.

Bribery doesn’t want eyes on his escape …

… which – I suspect – we the readers shall view in all its glory on Sunday.

Since Gweedo mentioned Jo Ann and AnyFace found my skulls avatar unpleasant, I thought I’d share this picture of my dear wife. The picture is from May 1960, two months later we married. Jo Ann passed away on September 7, 2010. At the time of her illness and passing, I chose to not mention it on GoComics. I have so many plesant memories of our 50 years together.

Still waiting for John McClane to show up.

et us not be too hasty in assuming Mr. Bigg has made a successful escape. He has blown open his route, or so it seems, but we have not yet seen him emerge, nor do we know for sure what is going on inside….

Could it be a modified/experimental magnetic air car that will lead to another fall for Mr. Bribery… His interest in the moon, and his attempt to recreating Moon Maid certainly would lead one to think he tried to create his own ‘moon tech’… And it will fail !

My home town of Milford, CT, put a cop in a bucket long before Chester Gould.The east end of the town green has five streets converging, so this was created to raise and protect the poor cop assigned to direct traffic. (It was hit numerous times.)The “cop in the bucket” was a landmark, until traffic lights were finally installed around 1970.

Sometime ago you asked on another page if I was originally from Massachusetts.No, my hometown, Milford CT was indeed founded in 1639 by the Puritans (AKA Pilgrims). They also founded New Haven, CT.

I wondered if it was just accidental “shrapnel” from the first blast but Wendy seems to have said that there were two blasts in the 6th floor. Possibly, she meant that the 4th floor explosion was the first one, making the 6th floor explosion the second one.

Thanks, guys, for the nice comments about Jo Ann. She lives on forever in my memories.
