Phoebe: New school year... new supplies... new teacher... new desk... Nothing has gone WRONG yet. I wonder how long I can keep everything PERFECT. GYAH!
I’m surprised this doesn’t show one of those “chair-desks” that I grew up with. The chair is permanently attached to the desk, and due to the design, it isn’t terribly likely to wobble. Do they still use those in public school?
Here in Mexico we had them just like the ones in the photo, but were already old ones, and just a few remaining. Most desks were one-piece made of steel tubing, a wooden flat table with a long groove in the front to put your pencils and storage space beneath, and a wooden bench. They were supposed to be for 2 students, but by 6th. grade it was usually one for each. When I went to what you would call junior high I meet those terrible modern chairs with a pallet attached, it felt awkward and small and I kept droping my books.

If this was taking place in California, I would worry that it was an earthquake.

Hey, if the chair wobbles loudly enough, this is a real opportunity!
