Sam is a happily married man, and despite Gweedo’s flip comment about “something on the side”, it would be completely out of character for Sam to do anything more than kiss Fritz Ann on the cheek for saving his life. Sam has always been faithful – as a partner to Tracy in the line of duty and at home. Sam is dependable, which is one of the things I’ve always enjoyed about him. Note to Mike and Joe: Please, please don’t mess that up!
Yes, there can be some harm in “having something on the side”. I watch a lot of true crime shows, and I have lost count of the number of murders committed because someone had something on the side and decided they wanted it full time, but did not want to go through the trouble and expense of a divorce. Plus, there is the matter of a certain commandment: “Thou shalt not commit adultery”.
Good strip with an especially strong third panel. The reveal is that Fritz Ann pushed Sam out of the line of fire. Now she knows that he knows. He is grateful and concerned about her wound. Nothing is messed up.
Sam Da Man certainly knew the dealAfter all these faithful years no one his heart could stealThat didn’t mean there was no affectionFor lovely Fritz Ann and her persistent attentionAll the kudos and praise, awe and respect She completely deserved, he’d make sure she would getHe knew he was here at this moment to seeSelflessness practiced by her willingness to beA perfect example of a truth that’ll never endGreater love has none than to sacrifice life for a friend.
Some of us are engineered to be just plain honorable, like Sam is doing the right thing; giving honor to whom it is due. .. juss sayen …I like your avatar lil buddy … I have one similar that was taken at the Monongalia county jail. They so graciously took my picture from 3 different views and gave me overnight accommodations … none the less it becomes you. I hope all is good
Well, I must admit that surprised the heck out of me. True Ms. Destrich has been teasing Samual for sometime, but he has to remember he is attached, and compassion, and loyalty isn’t exactly flirting either.
Very interesting, Neil. I remember my classes in 8086 assembler, and how we had to count bytes as well with programs. That was the most challenging class I took, aside from Cobal, and Fortran 77.
I also remember the Radio Shack Model 100 myself. I worked for a brief time in Covington KY’s Radio Shack (One of them) and had access to several models, including the ‘Trash 80’ (giggle) But the model 100 was surprisingly good. I wish they had a system like that anymore but they don’t last. I’m just keeping with my little Asus Eee now for a writing computer. But I understand about giving up a project. It’s frustrating at times your vision cannot quite work on the tools your given.
Thank you for the hindsight. A pleasure to read.
@Neil WickBack in earlier days I used Compuserve a lot before any Internet access was available to the general public. I think the earliest evidence of me on the Internet is a Usenet posting about The Simpsons. There are some programs I uploaded to Compuserve way back that you can still find.

As an example, here’s a thread from 1987 (28 years ago!) where I was discussing my attempts to make the new GIF format displayable on the Radio Shack Model 100 portable computer. (Maximum 32 K of working memory and program storage space and only black and white (no grey) display, at a resolution of 240 × 64 pixels.) In the end, I had to give up this particular project. It was a bit too much for that computer.

An affair would be destructive, but this kind of tension is very realistic – especially in a perilous line of work. I’m hoping Sam does not give in to temptation. Like any professional at risk for that kind of temptation (e.g. pastors), Sam should set strict rules on not being alone with FA. Also, the ancient advice: “It is good for a man not to touch a woman.”

Something on the side? I haven’t had any for so long, I didn’t know they moved it!
Okay . . . I’ll let myself out now . . . .

I think Fritz Ann is going to get a dose of kiss-pirin from Sam. It might do wonders for her quick recovery.

According to the dicktracy.wikia com I find this on Sam’s marital status:
Sam CatchemKnown Relatives:
Marge Catchem (Wife)Julie Catchem (Daughter)Unnamed Daughter
Created By:
Chester Gould
Apparently Marge Catchem has never made an appearance as I can’t find anything on her at all. Will be interesting to see how this is handled.
I wonder if that wiki entry was really created by Chester Gould?

re: Marge Catchem’s hair.
The pale blues in her hair indicate it is a grey/white colour. The other Marge’s hair matches the hanging lamp straight above Junior.
