Nuh-uh! A bit of rinsing the worst of the residue off, but nothing that qualifies as “washing,” And here in a drought state, we found that the short cycle does every bit as good a job as the full cycle. Check it out!

Watering my yard once a week for 15 minutes. I’ll see if I can get my wife to try the short cycle on the dishwasher. Looking forward to El Nino (I think, although the last big one covered the range with 12 feet of water. Made a mess of the trap houses).

So how long did you end up sleeping on the couch?

I find washing dishes to be the one of the very few times I get to be with my own thoughts.

I make sure leftover food on the plate goes down the garbage disposal before putting them in the dishwasher. That dishwasher was a great relief as I can’t stand for very long doing dishes. A plate or two, or when something didn’t entirely come clean from the dishwasher, but anything longer than that, I’m in pain.

Totally unnecessary with today’s modern, quiet, high efficiency machines; but old habits are hard to break…

Only on the high end models. The cheaper ones still just rinse over and over with water and old food particles. They are well steralized, but it is still gross and can get bugs.

Another tip I wouldn’t have thought of is to never put empty jars with a label attached in the dishwasher. They’ll come off the jar slick as a whistle, but the glue on the label will make it stick in the macerator at the bottom of the machine. Found this out from an expensive service call and had (almost) bought a new dishwasher.
