Carl is soooo ready for retirement….endless weekends, in which to indulge in his playful, creative side….so hard to concentrate on these last few months in the office.

He wanted to retire before he even started work….As a kid, when the uncles and the cheek-pinching neighbor ladies said “What do you want to be when you grow up, Carl?”…even though his father still had years of going to the office ahead of him…Carl answered “Retired.”

In old pictures, you can already see it…

In the clubs he belongs to, there’s a fanciful bent…

And in his hobbies…a pervasive escapism…. a longing for the carefree Bohemian youth he never had..

But soon… he’ll have his chance.Meanwhile…. the weekend shoe collection grows.

Carl first attended when he was 15, and it was love at first sight. However he never could get into Acme shoes, they only came in size 12 and Carl wears a 13. And no the old adage does not apply.

Rose…. your posts didn’t show when I refreshed, even though one of yours is before my second one!

    Can I interest you in a drink…. or maybe a Yak-n-Dak platter?

People may think that Carl has a happy life, but do you know how difficult it is to find clothes to go with polka-dotted shoes?

That light blue pair on his wall… top right in the picture, though you can tell there are more beyond them that we can’t see…

Anyway, they each have a yellow attachment on top….at first I thought maybe an old bike horn… like a clown carries.

But .they also look like a desk lamp I used to have…with a round ball for a switch … So I was thinking….hmmm… weekend…maybe for Church….you know…A lamp (or two) unto my feet……?

    Magnificent Monday, Ballardeers !

Most of us know how much Carl like to clown around on the weekend, He has always considered his life away from the staid accountancy firm of Adam Twice & Pray, as a three-ring circus.

See you all at the Tiki later, for yak-ribs and beer.Remember Oct. 5th is What’s Ale-ing You Day at the Tiki with a large selection of ales and beers on special. Enjoy your favorite brew and chew a few ( ribs ) !

I want a pair of the light blue numbers with the bicycle-squeeze horns and the spikes on the toes! They look sort of like some kind of African mask!

    As for your climbing ability…..

that’s why the socks I give you are always shaped sort of like your feet….

But did you know they’re finally making shoes like this that look good enough to wear when you’re in uniform….

I know the toes are much too short… but would they be any help at all?

    Shika!

    Those are some scary shoes!

Though maybe they appeal to people who really need a little…. um…. attention.I don’t mean from onlookers…I mean… well…personal attention.
