When my sons were little boys, you could only buy shoes made of leather and they were very expensive. When I bought shoes for them we needed whole money we earned!Once we bought 3 new bicycles, one for every boy. Driving first time, they went through a wood, over stones and roots. Coming home again the bikes were ruined! We didn’t buy new ones again!!

..roaming in all that beautiful landscape, creek and skating with Hobbes did that thing. What’s wrong in couple of shoes. I would love to be Calvin.

Calvin’s gotten wily due to painful experience. Whatever you can say about the kid, he has an active intellect and can occasionally (very occasionally) learn from his prior experience.

In the long run, I think Hobbes is happy if Calvin learns to be tricksy. It makes the game more fun for the tiger.

$1.00 a week? My brother, sister and I got $.10 a week if we accomplished all the chores properly.

Based upon what I see in today’s strip, Hobbes chews up Calvin’s shoes!

Let me ponder this for a moment… Hobbes is a stuffed tiger… a stuffed tiger that can chew…

These days, unless I go outside and shoes are a requirement, I rarely wear shoes. As a result, the bottoms of my feet are heavily calloused…
