I often use the excuse of 30 years working the Flight Deck on an Aircraft Carrier, but I actually only spent about 7 or so years working the Flight Deck. So I actually think it’s more of a Paying Attention problem. USN 65-95
lee PhillipsHearing loss is first in the range of the loudest noise heard at high volume. That is not only female voices, but jet engines, power saws, and riffs on a rock guitar.
Women never give up in their efforts to make their men perfect. Men see themselves as perfect (or just don’t think about it) just as we are. Whenever my wife gets on the whole picking up after me thing, I either sing the song, One Less Bell to Answer , or tell her if she plays her cards right she will be picking up after me for another 30 or 40 years.
The woman is damn lucky to be married to the perfect man. don’t tell her I said that .
Consonants are produced with the tongue against the teeth and are at higher frequencies than vowels, which are made deep in the throat. This is why when you lose your higher frequencies with age or damage you might hear someone talking but have a hard time understanding them, especially women and any high-pitched voice: you’re only hearing pieces of the words. That’s what hearing aids address. It does take a month or two to get used to wearing them (I can tell you from experience) but it is well worth it.

Men generally lose their hearing first in the range of the human female voice. Some sort of protection mechanism…

My wife accuses me of having selective hearing. I said, “That is not true. I hear you now and I don’t want to.”

One of my FB friends posted a comic strip type drawing of an ear with a hearing aid in it. It had 3 settings: TV, wife and off.
