I thought the official line was that they were at least married. And I don’t remember that the Bible says how old Mary was, but if she was old enough to become pregnant, I doubt it was considered “underage” at the time.

Nope, only betrothed. You’re correct about being old enough at the time, though. But he’s telling a joke, so he allowed the context to imply current age standards. I totally did not expect the pope to tell a joke, though. Love it!

Think “joke” is catholics who buy their forgiveness. For a price, sins forgiven.

He may not be joking, and talking of the Family who arrived in the previous strip.

A reminder for all of us to try not to be “holier” that other People.

I well remember a cartoon of some years ago. The disciples were all talking about loving the Lord. Peter responded “Of course I love Him, I just get tired of His ‘holier than thou’ attitude.”

Now look, she can lug God around for 9 months, but in no way can we allow her to become a priest.
