A lot of us are antique’s ourselves, wood bats were all there was !! And it was “friction tape” that was used to repair a slightly cracked bat, it was sticky on both sides and improved your grip on the bat. … (stickier on one side, than the other) ….. us “old fa*ts” know about this….
Tigger, “Duck Tape” is an overpriced brand; a plugger would have 3M or a generic brand.
I’d have taken the bat to my dad, he’d have fixed it with 10” of 3/16 threaded rod, two nuts, and two flat washers. Much more durable fix. You only use electrician’s tape for a slight longitudinal crack, it’d never hold that crack together for even a single hit.
tedcoop: Sorry about that! Thanks for my typo catch! I always proofread my work before hitting the “post comment” button but sometimes it’s the smaller misspelled words that get past me more than the bigger ones do!!!

As kids we played with a ball with about 1 1/2 pounds of black cloth electrical tape on it.

A wooden bat! What are you doing playing with that? It’s an antique!

My husband has a favorite saying:
If it doesn’t move and should, use WB40 … and if it moves and shouldn’t, use duct tape!

We used to use a broom handle if there wasn’t a bat available.

Pluggers are too cheap to buy their kids new sports equipment.
