Queen Victoria asked what crime had Oscar Wilde committed. One of her diplomatic counselors replied that Oscar Wilde had been charged with “enlarging the circles of his friends”.
Sheik, that quote can be taken a certain way, you know? As I’m sure the diplomatic counselor knew.
Apparently, August heat also grows hair, quickly.
The other quote that I heard was that Oscar Wilde causing hurt to his friends behind their backs.
Bare arms…bare legs…bare whatever you dare. (“Hoo hoo!” Says Oscar)
Gods; I heard this joke a quarter-century ago…from the Muppet Babies!
The thing that makes this rendition great is the layers upon layers of clothing Oscar has covering his bare arms.
Conversation about the weather is the last refuge of the unimaginative.
The right to bare arms figures in the lot of the movie “Sleeveless in Seattle.”
The problem is that the Muppet Babies had different reasons for wanting bare arms than Oscar did.
Now that I think about it, I may have subconsciously stolen this one from Johnny Hart, too.
I always enjoy Oscar’s participation in the strip- Thanks, Pab!
@ Rotifer, I always thought conversation about other people was the last refuge etc.
