Hey, I already have to buy everything with my own money….So no…I’d feel better if you bought it, Tony.Whatever “it” is.
Not a skateboard, though…thanks anyway.I don’t want you to have to buy all the accessories…You know…. like ambulance bills, ace bandages, casts, crutches….maybe a motorised wheelchair.A nice girl doesn’t accept expensive gifts like that from a cartoonist she hardly knows.
QOTD: When my kids wanted anything expensive, car, computer, latest gaming system, we always had them match at least 50%. They had a better appreciation for things that way and we’re less likely to ask for things they didn’t want.
So no Tony, I appreciate the offer but spend it on someone who needs it.
@TonyIf you want to give me something, I’ll be happy to take it. Perhaps a Heart of Gold spaceship with an infinite improbability drive, I’m awfully tired of mucking about in hyperspace.
The usual, comic books or books in general. (I was a strange kid, I was usually reading, somewhere.)When I got older: cosmetics and earringsOh! and Bakers Tacos!
@TonyNo candy.Comic books, books – and I saved most of my allowance to buy technical stuff. Or my SLR when I was seventeen, different lenses and stuff later, films and their developing, b/w later and everything to develop them myself,…My first VCR (Beta) and cassettes later…
Saved my babysitting money to buy a guitar for $100 at the PX when I was 12. My husband played it until he got a Martin of his own. I now play the upright bass.

What does the lad plan to do with the saved up money if he keeps sponging his parents?

have him do extra chores and earn money and pay for half of the cost, it might make him appreciate the board more and take care of ot

My mum’s standard answer – and ours, too – was “save your allowance”.

QOTD #2: Toys, specifically the Micronauts line of toys and ships. Oh and books, was always a voracious reader.

When you were a kid, what (other than candy) did you spend your own money on?
As little as possible, because as everyone knows, there’s never enough gold…
