Try cashing a couple thousand dollar cashier’s check at many small bank branches.

They tell you to come back tomorrow. They will order the cash in.

I am serious. We had it happen.

BTW: This is a very large regional bank that is constantly gobbling up smaller banks.

Happens in Africa. All the time.

Chris MapleThere is a minimum legally required to be on hand – not that banks follow legal requirements. Our Canadian credit union, on rare occasions, required waiting only on large amounts in currencies other than Canadian and US dollars or British pounds. I suspect Euros have been added to that list. You get much better service when you own a business. And you left out the zero to half percent interest they have to pay the “Federal” Reserve to get the money that sits around in a drawer.
