This is why “The Peanuts Movie” made me cry.

Seeing Charlie Brown finally talk to her was just so satisfying.

Didn’t Charlie Brown, (Charles Schulz), end up marrying that little red haired girl?

He didn’t. In fact, she broke his heart and he never completely got over it, which is why he was inspired to include the little red-haired girl in the strip. This article from last year gives some explanation:

BTW, this last panel in a strip from 1998 is the most we got to see of the little red-haired girl in the comics. I think the Peanuts movie version looks a little like her.

Reminds me of the song, “After 24 Years of Living Next Door to Alice”. Saddest song I know.

He who hesitates is lost. Sparky was a little late in proposing after dating her for three years and she married another man. They remained close until his death, though. Peanuts taught me about unrequited love, but unfortunately also taught me to keep my distance and fear taking risks with girls. That stayed with me until I was 39, which I know is hard to imagine but even worse to live through. Charlie Brown’s talking about sixth grade…what grade is he in?

Life can be cruel.Hopefully, another girl will move in.Or maybe, a decent ball player!

I want to believe that eventually they did get together. Charlie Brown is happily married to his little-red-haired-girl, and they just had their second grandchild.Lucy on the other hand has had three divorces and two facelifts.

I was not familiar with the word “goodby” before seeing this cartoon (personally I would have used “goodbye” in its place if I were its creator (no offense was intended to the actual creator)).
