Transcript:
The Born Loser by Art & Chip Sansom Gladys: What time would you like to eat dinner tonight, Brutus? Brutus: I just had a snack, so you can push dinner back a little later than usual. Gladys: Did you try the new one-hundred-calorie-cookie packs I bought for you? Brutus: Yes, I did. Gladys: They're carefully portioned to keep your snacks within sensible dietary guidelines... Gladys: They're so much better for you than opening a regular box of cookies and eating until you're stuffed! Gladys: Well, tell me - did you like the one-hundred-calorie packs for a snack? Brutus: Yeah, they were pretty good, but five packs is my limit!

I had a roommate and her daughter who decided to stock up on bottled water for Y2K. I thought that was a good idea. They bought 2 24-packs of bottles … of 8 oz bottles for $5 or 6. At some point around Oct 1999 they had guzzled half of them, and they were all gone well before New Years Eve… That school year, they talked me into buying a 30 bag package of assorted chips, so the girl didn’thave to take baggies of chips to school, you guessed it. After a week or so, all the good chips were gone, leaving a few bags of Fritos. After that, they were gone, too. Good riddance!

How many calories would he have consumed, if he’d only had to open one package? Probably more. If nothing else, it slowed him down some, so the “full stomach” message could reach his brain.

Well… that’s only 500 Calories. It would have been a lot more with something else
