25 years ago, I just want to have black coffee. The staff then looked at me strangely as if I came from another planet. It was in a coffee shop in Stockholm, Sweden.

My first time in America I asked for a flat white and got a milk shake container of black coffee.

Or you’re from the east coast and ordering that on the west coast. “Regular” was a type of gasoline out here.

Just let me have my plain, real coffee. Everyone else can have all the Yuppie stuff. Most of them you might as well order a milk shake. probably even be cheaper and taste better. Boy I can only imagine the looks and laughs I would of gotten by bringing a fancy Late’ down to the Engine Room while on Watch !!!

Flat White is basically a Latte with steamed milk. Regular means different things in different regions. Some placed it designates Black “Caffeinated” instead of Decaf. Other places it’s 2 milk 2 sugar. Probably means something else in other places too.
