    We don’t even have a means to educate people about having families. We are so backwards as a culture on that.

    Dr Spock’s book is great on baby diseases and problems but even he admitted (much later) that his theories on child raising were crap.

    When my son was little and used to ask me why he couldn’t do this or that, I used to tell him because that’s what it said in the mommy handbook. When he started reading at the age of 4 and wanted to see my handbook, I had to give up my favorite response.
