There’s nothing ‘new’ with the Malinois, it is a shepherd breed older than the Gernan shepherd (the German shepherd has probably Malinois ancestors) and now that the German Shepherd has been bred to a hip damaged bent spine overbred dog the Malinois has totally replaced it in many countries as police, military and working dog. But it has always existed, in the shadows.

One-third of anything does not compute when it comes to a pedigree. It must be divisible by two.

Who cares about the dog’s breeding as long as he does his job?

We know (but Joe don’t know) just how good a watch dog he has.

So if one dog is 11/32nds of a breed (close enough to 1/3) and that animal is 4 generations back, then your dog is 11/512s, but about 2%. You can use mitochondrial dna to find out which side it came from but that still seems weirdly specific to me.
