Jack had to cover his ear – the girls shouldn’t say that stuff within earshot. Pru & TJ showing up – good theater … A nice line from Luann – although Jsck is hard to like…

Why are people so negative about Jack the Jock? Sure, he’s not the brightest bulb in the box, but Luann is hardly a great scholar herself. Jack does seem rather insistent on trying to get Luann to go out with him, but he’s always polite about it, and he treats her with respect. He’s an admirer, not a stalker.

As for the strip, Bernice has a bad case of headupherassitis. Lighten up, girl! Not every guy wants in your pants.

Now, as for the election, I may not like the son of a bitch, but like it or not, Donald Trump will be the 45th President of the United States, and I respect him for that. And, as a United States Army veteran (Cold War, kiddies—I’m ancient!), I will support him as our Commander in Chief.

Enter T.J. and Prudence making assumptions, even if they are just kidding, and sending Luann into a mini-frenzy. This is how wild rumors start and hard to reel back in.

Could lead Luann into an "alright already, I’ll try a ‘date’!

Yep, Bernice isn’t about controlling anyone… she just had a ‘relapse’ from her goal of ‘opening up and extending herself’ through various functions and social encounters…

    - -

Of course, like some girls I knew growing up, Bern seems intent on preferring someone who they think is ‘the one’, even though they’re not really getting the relationship they think they’d get with ‘the one’ .

    - -

Perhaps Bern is justified in turning down opportunities to meet other guys, reserving herself for someone who is, well….uh…..well, he has that star on the side of his head…guess that counts for something! And, let’s see- …Okay, he likes old black and white films! Yep! And…. there’s…..uh…..uh….. oh, yeah- he’s….all “mysteriousy” and stuff…..and, there’s….uh….

Both Luann and Bernice are being snarky here, as only bff’s can be when they are talking about two somewhat different types of guys who are interested in them. What I like is that TJ and Pru are introduced from stage left, and its a nice little relief to see them. One small point I am making (still trying to recover from last night, ohhh my head -:) is that TJ is shown to be very nice and smiling, not at all sneaky,or somehow kind of dangerous character to be around. I have been arguing that position for a long time, and his being introduced in this scene the way he is is to me a small affirmation of this point of view. Beyond that I got nothing, but I kind of feel I always have to put my point it, even if my brain feels like an egg beater. Hope ya’ll understand (lol-snifffff)

Uh, and somehow ‘Jack’ is weird and ‘Piro’ is not? I don’t get it. Bernice is way off in a new and different world. Kinda nice to see Pru and TJ enter the fray though. Hang on. Maybe by Friday we’ll see where the foursome end up. Possibly not as a foursome.

Jack is agressive, extroverted, and athletic but not overly intellectual. Basically, he is the anti-Gunther. Maybe he doesn’t even have Mama issues. He could be a welcome change of pace for this strip, and perhaps for its eponymous character as well.

From what we have seen in his approach to his art assignments (doing 20 self-portraits by using a copy machine!), Jack is a really easy-going guy who doesn’t fret about minutae, comes right out and says what is on his mind, and is remarkly self-accepting and well adjusted. I just have to ask – what in tyhe world is he doing in this strip??? Doesn’t he know the rules of behavior in Pittsworld?

Okay, for how the election might impact your access to affordable comics: Clinton was for continuing Net Neutrality. Trump long supported doing away with it. Loss of net neutrality will increase profits for telecommunication companies by letting them increase costs, especially for those who have websites, blogs, etc, but also for the end users. It means that depending on the telecommunication companies being used and their rates, not only will companies like GC likely wind up with higher costs that they have to recover, but the end users, you and me, can also wind up with higher costs just to access.

    .

The biggest impact is that larger users will be able to negotiate lower prices, so access to the smaller information providers, small businesses as one example, and the majority of the health information and education information online in the U.S. for another example, will become proportionately more costly.

    .

The history of net neutrality is in English Common Law which ended the abuses of toll roads that originally had vastly varying prices for road access depending on what was carried in the vehicle. England finally realized that it was such a bad and common abuse that criteria were established, so it created a toll neutrality. It might seem strange at first that online routes of access took guidelines from physical ones but if you think about it, it makes sense.
