I’se got a little baby, but she’s out of sightI talk to her across the telephoneI’se never seen my honey, but she’s mine all rightSo, take my tip an’ leave this gal alone
Ev’ry single morning you will hear me yell“Hey, Central, fix me up along the line”He connects me with ma honey, then I rings the bellAnd this is what I say to baby mine
Hello, ma baby, hello, ma honeyHello, ma ragtime galSend me a kiss by wireBaby, my hearts on fire
If you refuse meHoney, you lose meThen you’ll be left alone, oh babyTelephone and tell me I’se your own
This morning through the telephoneShe said her name was BessAnd now I kind of know where I am atI’se satisfied because I’ve got my babe’s addressHere pasted in the lining of my hat
I am mighty scared, ’cause if the wires get crossed’Twill seperate me from my baby mineThen some other coon will win her and my game is lostAnd so each day I shout along the line
Hello, ma baby, hello, ma honeyHello, ma ragtime galSend me a kiss by wireBaby, my hearts on fire
If you refuse meHoney, you lose meThen you’ll be left alone, oh babyTelephone and tell me I’se your own
We love watching our squirrels. Now I’ll imagine them doing all sorts of cool things when not being watched! This strip put me in mind of The Far Side one with a herd of cows standing around on two legs, one of them hollers ‘CAR!’ and they drop to all four feet on the ground ; )
