When that forty days and forty nights of rain began, you can bet the weatherman said it was going to be sunny and nice all day—which just goes to prove that even back they they got it wrong.
Reminds me of one Easter in SW MO, when the forecast was for snow “flurries” and it dropped 4 feet—-a record. The poor TV weatherman never used that word again.
LOL! I remember being a teenager and watching the snow fly while the forecaster on the radio was saying ’Zero Percent chance of snow". My brother and mom were laughing right along with me.
All one Friday afternoon, I gave the forecast for Saturday as :partly cloudy:…Saturday morning there was half an inch on snow on the ground….very unusual for Mississippi….so I apologized saying big government was responsible for that….and sorry for the half inch of partly cloudy on their driveway.
Weathermen of today do not do the forecast, they just pass on the results of the computer models. As a result, their accuracy is worst than it was before the models and the Weather Channel and Acu-weather are even worse.
Ages ago, according to Readers Digest, a radio station in Buffalo reported “a low of 28 degrees and a 20% chance of precipitation.” Commenting on the heavy blizzard then sacking the city, he continued, “It’s 24 degrees, and it’s been 20-percenting all afternoon.”

I’ve never heard a forecaster say zero percent chance of anything. If they’re sure it’s not going to snow, they just don’t mention snow.
