The reason they avoid transporting people on-ship without using the transporter pads in “Star Trek” is to avoid part of you ending up being reassembled a bit too low and in the solid sickbay exam table rather than in the air… if your brain was being reassembled where something else was it wouldn’t assemble enough to register it happened, so in that case it’s a pretty instant death
