Hm, seems the 28th floor is a juncture floor, which makes sense: Structurally, elevators can only go so far before the weight of the cable becomes an issue.
One of my late uncles used to work at Otis Elevator, really should have grilled him more about that.
Anyway, to make an escape from the 28th floor, if necessary later in the story, up is as much an option as down.
What Tracy didn’t know is that the robbers are no longer there. Goodbye $1.25M
Speaking of $1.25M, where did the last $250,000 came from. There were only 4 envelopes the last time we saw it. It looks like The Spirit, Dolan and Sammy are not bidders since they are able to leave the hotel.
Over at the Dick Tracy Fan Club on Facebook, Mike Curtis has just admitted he didn’t remember that the Brush died at the end of his original story. What this means for this story is that this is probably meant to be the original Brush, not an imposter, and that we probably won’t get an explanation in this story for how he survived.
Hi, Tim ! Posting here as requested. The Otis humor elevates me, in feeling at least as I am currently in the sub basement at a secret non-govenment facility in K.C. I will actually call the customer service number by tomorrow and see if I can get some more mealy mouthed run around ! Sure I wont be disappointed but will be ecstatic if I get better results. :-D
.Someone posted how elevators can only go so high before it becomes a problem for the cabling. In 1999 Dad and I bought the $5 ticket, apiece, to go up to the observation deck of the former Sears tower now Willis Tower. it was a fast continuous ride up:“Elevators take tourists to the top in about 60 seconds, and allow tourists to feel the pressure change as they rise up.”
.So, I don’t know where this floors limit comes from other than it was likely the way it used to be, like when you could look through the glass elevator door and see the inside of the shaft from whatever floor you were on. Makes one wonder how suicide or a crime could so easily happen back in them days… We were in a hospital in Buffalo in almost mid 1960s when I remember getting the spooky feeling of looking down the shaft while standing at the door on an upper floor.
Not knowing much about the history of the Spirit, I have to ask—does the Spirit’s remark to Tracy that he prefers to work hands on mean that the Spirit has traditionally worked without a gun? If that’s the case, a battle between the Spirit and Doubleup might be interesting.
So, Team Trenchcoat is ready to enter the fray! Are they in fact in time, or have they already missed the opening act?
Is Totally Original Brush packing anything stronger than tranquilizer darts? Or will he have to engage the Spirit mano a mano? How many uniformed cops, MCU plainclothes, and TEK support are there to assist?
One thing I remember specifically about trying to get a room at the Siam, if you show up with someone about half your age and ask for the hourly rate, they may ask you to leave. They have a reputation to maintain, don’t ya know! In Gweedo’s case, Rikki is about 1/3 his age. That’s the real reason he is in cold storage.

Do we know how many stories comprise The Hotel Siam?

So, nobody’s supposed to know about the auction. I wonder how the plant men and Pouch found out about it.

Maybe Tracy should ‘capture or herd’ our commentators, it feels like a few have peeled off for parts unknown.

Gweedo told me he will try again to get some answers as to why he is persona-non-grata at Gocomics now.

Gweedo is off-list? Oh, my! Well, I wonder if it has anything to do with the fact that it’s NOT LEGAL in all states! (Or Canada.)
