When I was a kid, I used to gripe about how my school district never closed, even when they really should have and everyone around them was closing. Now that I’m an adult, I can look back and see… yeah, they were just being stubborn.
Growing up, it had to be either 6 inches of snow or more, or zero degrees F or below to close school. Now it’s about 2 inches or any temperature below 20!
I have lived in Georgia all my life. We seldom get snow, but one inch in a day shuts Atlanta down completely. My job took me all over the country, and I used to be amazed at the way places like Boston and Chicago could go on normally with six inches of snow and minus ten degrees of cold.

Weather Underground is showing a pretty good chance of snow in northeast Tennessee for next weekend, so I 3d printed a couple of eight inch tall snowmen molds over Christmas so I can “pull a Calvin.” I also printed a dozen “Top Hats” and about a hundred sets of googly eyes. https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:675620
Remember also that what is missed during the winter must be made up at the end of the school year. They won’t be so happy when school is still going later into June.
My district almost never closed, even if all the districts around it was. There was one time where it was -60 F or something like that, and the governor closed all schools for the day.

But it will make the bus ride to school more visually pleasing.

Last time it snowed here in Sevilla was in 1956. Everybody ran out to see it, old and young alike.

Sorry Calvin, most schools stay open with just an inch of snow. My sister is unhappy she wants snow. Schools will closer if over 6".

Schools shouldn’t close because of the snow. They should close because of the ICE. Ice on the roads, Ice on the pavements…etc.

If you live far enough south, any amount of snow will close schools
