When I was at the airport in France, I’m pretty sure I saw some police officers with guns. I remember me and my Auntie were standing outside the airport and I saw the officers walk in with those huge guns. This was about 11 years ago so my memory is a little hazy.

Like the bobbie in England, France has the flic.

Police, or flic (slang) for civilian police corps. Gendarme is another thing, a military police corps working mostly out of the cities.
