Self driving cars will not be viable or safe until they can flawlessly communicate with each other and “see” everything around them. I have three GPS units in my truck, plus my iPad for mapping, and all three GPSs went haywire when I moved them and the Dash Cam into my new Freightliner. I didn’t know they emitted RF signals until I did an internet search to see why the two devices could not get along. The only setting for a driverless car when there is a fault is to stop. Imagine a fault code on the freeway at 70mph in the left lane, and then… it just stops.
I NEVER buy new technology. I wait for the second or third “generation” before I take interest. There are almost always bugs in the system, and the price has started settling down by then.
