I used to work with a gentleman. He was a very important man in his community, very upstanding and respected. Every Halloween his town had a Pumpkin Festival, and he would dress up as Pumpkin Man. The kids loved him. He was a sweet, gentle soul. He passed away just a few years after I met him and I still think fondly of him.
Commercialized and way too adult. Parking lots are setting up vehicles with trunks full of candy and kids (also a lot of adults) going from vehicle to vehicle for candy. It is a candy-frenzy. Adults have taken over the what was once a religious event and made it an orgy.
