Sisyphos almost dropped a spoiler on us last night. If the time of his posting was after the “other” syndicate’s release of today’s offering, I would call it a spoiler. But it was a couple of hours before. So, good intuition, Sisyphos!
I feel I must express my disappointment in this John Springstein character, “ratting out” the Nitrates hideout. Yes, I suppose, Mike and Joe needed a way to bring this story to a close – but even there, I think many of us would have been happy with the Nitrates having a few months of ill-gotten freedom while we chased moon people around for a while.
As someone above noted, John S has just radically decreased his usefulness to Tracy – if not the length of his own life – surely, his “cover” is now officially blown!
Personally, I think a better close might have been that Adam Austin is the stool pigeon. To date, he may have had no reason to be involved with Tracy ’s doings or to be aware of Sprocket and her checkered past. But, for me, it would have been a more satisfying conclusion if the tip off came from the author who noticed that his contessa was barefoot.
Like many others, I was wondering if I had missed a strip or two. Apparently John Springsteen dimed the Nitrates out in yesterday’s strip, but then again I wasn’t aware he knew of their hide-out. I guess the bigger question is how Tracy is handling this. The Nitrates are wanted criminals, who escaped heavily armed custody. Wouldn’t the police be clearing out the block & sending in the SWAT teams?
Looks like the real Tracy and Sam will be at the Midnite Mirror debut and doings (to use Sam’s words). But (as I have said on earlier occasions) I hope they call for back-up before charging in! If they are looking to find the Nitrates in the crowd of movie fans, or to avoid Adam Austin (ironically, since, as we know though Tracy doesn’t and quite likely even Austin doesn’t, Adam’s date “Tessie Tremorhart” is Sprocket “Susan” Nitrate), they need to have more help for crowd control, covering possible exits, etc.
But, it seems clear enough, we are approaching some kind of showdown when the cops show up at the big show doings….

All of a sudden we have skipped a few panels and Tracy magically knows where the Nitrates are?

“What’s your 10-20, Tracy?”

Hope Springstein has a place to hide…if the Nitrates are caught alive, they’ll put out the word on Springstein being a sellout to Dick Tracy.

Boss Bacy is going to the premiere! Guess who will sit beside him, no other but Tessie Tremorhart. :)

Things will be a-jumpin’ when the music gets to thumpin’ and the costumed get to bumpin’ at the Lyric. Will Tracy make a red carpet round up?

And we approach the story arc’s singularity.

Those who STILL don’t think Tracy’s going to the premiere – I’ve got a lovely two-week vacation in Puerto Rico I’d like to interest you in…..
