Bumper cars in outer space? Sounds like fun!

When I was a kid, I thought it would be great to be on the bridge when they were in a battle! The way the camera shook the ship made it look super fun!

That’s why they were always falling on the floor.

It doesn’t make for exciting television when everyone is strapped. Seeing people get slammed into bulkheads does.

I agree with Red. It doesn’t make sense. And you know what else? No airbags.

I LOVE Rover’s ear-wrap in the last panel so he doesn’t have to see the asteroid carnage.

Fortunately, I was old enough and well versed enough in science by the time this show appeared that I understood the nature of “artificial gravity”. Less well understood was how the captain could justify leaving the ship in others’ hands at “the drop of a hat” to go ‘galavanting’ off here and there, all the time and was more problematical – of course, once you could accept “hearing” explosions in space I understand that everything is “fair game!” Red and Rover is ALWAYS great fun to read because it recalls a more innocent time – I guess I’m just old.

When they generate their own gravity they should not have been thrown around. However it would have looked less exciting.

It’s about 2:30 EST as I post this. BBC America is running the original now through I think it was 8 or 9 EST tonight.

If you pay attention, you’ll hear them refer to “inertial dampers” from time to time.
