Man with cigar: Aren't taxes awful?
Man in black: Terrible-- Going up all the time.
Nancy: Grown-ups give me a pain---Always kicking about TAXES--- ---Yet they insist on building THESE places.
Sign reads: PUBLIC SCHOOL
I have no problem building the schools. It’s the size of the schools. Their freaking palaces and gobs of wasted space. Now I want a nice building, energy efficient, all that…..However good Lord, have you been inside some of these places?
When I was a firefighter we were in 100+ year old firehouses, some still had hay oats falling from the ceilings at times. I see schools clamoring for a new building every 20-30 years – it’s like come on really?
I have no issue paying my taxes – I just ask for some accountability of my tax dollars.
What? Schools = palaces? Dude, in most of the country they’re 50 year old structures, patched together with asbestos and roofing tar, that would be condemned for juman occupancy by most building inspectors.
Yes, in some affluent zip codes the schools are nice. Not in most of the country.
The county just north of mine was once known for its significantly lower property & sales taxes and reasonably priced real estate, etc…
Folks flocked there to get away from high taxes in my county & guess what? Fire protection, police, sanitation, hospitals, schools, new roads, etc. COST MONEY there, too. As the population grew, so did the expenses to provide & maintain these essential services. It was a wash tax-wise in the long term.
Stuff costs… it needs to be paid for & nothing is free.

another good case to give every child a Chromebook and let them do distance learning in perpetuity.
