This day is rather historic. This is the earliest ever that Major League Baseball has started its regular season. Also, for the first time in fifty years every MLB team will start the season on the same day and for the first time in seven years the start of the season is on a Thursday.
I’m taking a long drive to my daughter’s ranch tomorrow. I was hoping for a Twins game on the radio, but apparently they start today then take 3 days off.
Reminds me of growing up in Flushing, Queens and going crazy over the Mets being in their first World Series in 1969. At least one game was played in the daytime, and our 5th grade teacher at PS 21 suspended afternoon lessons and let us listen to the game on my Panasonic transistor radio.
We had a radio sitting above the kitchen sink that was dedicated to the Cubs games and heaven help the poor sod who changed the channel. We’d feel the wrath of Mom!
Like Bill in above thread, I spent a LOT of time with an old Philco tube type radio and my Dad , on the porch listening to the Cubbies. How I wish he could have been around the last few years to hear their successes!

I’m not a fan of watching baseball, but I love listening to the games on the car radio. :)
