Even Labor Day

and what is wrong, Lucy, with a little creativity?

I applaud Linus for making things more personal. That’s what I did for my mother, made her a mother’s day gift.

Wow.

Lucy is just rotten to the core. The 3 words that best describe her are as follows , and I quote ……… stink, stank, stunk!!!

Pay no attention to Lucy, Linus. It’s the thought that counts.

As a child and pre-teen in the 60’s, I made my mother a homemade card every Mother’s Day. Fast forward to 2016 – My Dad died (11 years after Mom) and while going through his things, found a box that contained all those cards I made. Not one store-bought card from my brother among them. There you go.

I always appreciated the cards and gifts that my son made for me a lot more than a store-bought card. It meant he made a special effort just for me.

She should’ve at least bought a Peanuts card.

I used to make my own family greeting cards on my Mac and label ’em “© Mitch Is Too Cheap To Buy A Greeting Card, Inc.” My family liked ’em better than the storebought cards… :D

Lucy will expect her kids to buy her Mother’s Day cards and her husband to get her long-stemmed roses and Godiva chocolates. And he’ll present her with divorce papers and take the kids with him.

I’d change my homemade card at that point:“Dear Mom, I took the time to make this card for you myself because I love you so much. I didn’t want to just throw some coins across a store counter and hand you something like that.” Then I’d show it to Lucy.

My two brothers and I gave Mama cards we’d made at school. We gave store-bought cards when we were older. I topped my brothers when I mailed Mama a card that was about 3 feet long by 2 feet wide, the biggest that the Post Office would deliver. Mama kept that one.

Lucy has it mixed up. It’s cheap to just buy a card and escape the creativity and work of one made by yourself.
