After a divorce, or even a death of a parent, it isn’t easy to put someone else in the place of that missing parent. It is hard enough to marry one person, but it is far harder to marry a family. “Coach Cutie” may be able to do it, but she will need to work very hard to pull it off.
I’ve read many critical comments here about Edith’s “selfishness”. She is a young kid struggling with the possibility of another major change coming in her life, and she’s doing the best she can. At that age, kids want stability, and she sees Coach Cutie as an intrusion and threat to her world. It can’t be expected for kids that age to act maturely and put their father’s interests first.
