It’s not a cave, it’s a simple hut. They are building a castle, but the Fink already owns one of those, so he’s building a hut. You always want what you don’t have…

I thought the joke was the king wants to change comic strips.

Not much point in building a sand castle with parapets that everyone else can step over.

The King is having Sir Rodney and Wiz do all the work of building the castle, which he will take over once it’s complete. While the two who built the castle will get the hut, which didn’t take much effort to build. You guys don’t expect the king to do any hard work, do you?
