I’m not sure if the point of this panel is “pluggers don’t throw away spoiled food because they’re poor” or “pluggers don’t throw away spoiled food because they have incipient dementia,” but either way you have to admit it’s pretty grim!
The point of this panel is that the ’Adult Children" do not trust their parents to properly take care of the grandchildren. Ever see a new mother trying to show her mother how to hold her new baby or trying to explain how certain foods are sure to cause instant death even if it was her favorite food as a child.
a relative has not spoken to me since I asked him why he threw out the coffee grounds I kept stored in the fridge to keep them fresher. he said because the canister said they expired over 4 years ago. I said did it ever occur to you that I was just re-using the canister? I had just put fresh coffee grounds in that canister the week before. I did not get mad at him and don’t understand why he is mad at me. heh heh heh I am just an old fogey to him, but if he is lucky enough he may get this old too.

reminds me of that other “Pluggers” panel where the spouses argue over (I think unopened) expired foods are still okay to consume

Most juices aren’t good for you before the expiration date either.

They are not “Expiration dates”, unless you are really stupid and want to buy more of something you never use.

Just because it’s past its sell-by date, doesn’t necessarily mean it’s spoiled. The grand-kids on the other hand…
