The Hawaiian fish’s name translates from the Hawaiian language as “triggerfish with a snout like a pig” (at least the Ripley’s publishers added the ʻokina — not an apostrophe — near the end for the glottal stop).
There’s a female pro tennis player from Hawaii with this name: Kaheaokaleonahenahemaikalani Companion. But luckily for chair umpires they only have to say last names when announcing the score! Btw i think her name means Merry Christmas or something like that (according to someone talking about her on a tennis forum a while back).
Other cultures have amazingly long names. As a medical transcriptionist, I typed for many doctors from India and Pakistan who had multi-multi-syllable names. Some of them shortened them when staying in the U.S., but some didn’t. My sister has the same problem as an OR nurse. She will need to read the surgeon’s pager for him, and Dr. Gjlejfljsdjfladj f j ajslfjlaj j jlajdjllljljj has called back, and she can’t say the name! When the Thai boys and their coach were being rescued (and RIP the brave man who lost his life helping) I had quite a time reading about it…I finally gave up trying to decipher the lengthy names and just stuck to the story. (And a miracle it was!)

I tried saying that fish’s name ten times fast. It certainly qualifies as a tongue twister.

Hawaiian conversations must be extremely long.

There’s an old song with that fish in the chorus. “I Wanna Go Back to My Little Grass Shack”

So they asked some nervous Hawaiian kid on the street what the name of the state fish was?

The fish’s markings look like a fish going the other way… probably to fool predators into biting less-vital parts.
