Comrade TRUMPski’s tariffs will apparently hit his own voters hardest. The leaders of other countries are not as ignorant as our own reality-TV-host-in-chief. They know which states voted for Comrade Bone Spurs, and are targeting products from those states for their retaliatory tariffs.
TRUMPski — “Who knew tariffs could be so complicated?”
Clearly Comrade TRUMPski never heard of “unintended CONsequences.
In the meantime, Japan, China and European nations are negotiating their own trade deals that completely leave American businesses out in the cold. Thanks, Comrade TRUMPski! (“My boss Putin told me to…”)
Putin yanks the puppet strings and TRUMPski dances, bone spurs notwithstanding.
It’s more Manichean thinking. Trump and his followers think you either have completely unregulated capitalism or socialism. They think the choice is either kissing Putin’s butt or war with Russia. And they think the choice is either unrestricted trade with no rules or isolationism. And it’s stupid.
@Ignatz: “Trump and his followers think you either have completely unregulated capitalism or socialism. They think the choice is either kissing Putin’s butt or war with Russia.”
And they think Putin’s Russia is now a Capitalist paradise?
Pair o’ dice, maybe. In current Russia, it’s a gamble whether you’ll be allowed to remain out of jail (or even alive) if you own a mega-corporation.
If Putin thinks you might be able to gain enough power to be independent of him — whether or not that’s your desire, — somebody else could quickly become the new owner of your company’s assets.
A little discomfort now is needed for the long-range good of the country. Most politicians think only in time spans of their term in office or the next election.

Something no one seems to be talking about:
Perhaps the tariffs aren’t about trade at all!
Perhaps Trump knows his tax cuts for the rich are bankrupting the country.
Perhaps what Trump’s tariffs are all about is fresh blood for the treasury that he’s bleeding dry!
