Back in the good old days a kid like that would have been riding the bench. Only the best got to see the field and deservedly so. Nowadays everyone has to play…no matter how badly a kid sucks!

He could play the position I played, left out!

Reminds me of the Little League commercial Pizza Hut had a long time ago. "That’s why I played in right field way out where the dandelions grow.

How about the coach doing his job and coaching him on how to play?

I was as non-athletic as they come (PE teacher asked what my favorite sport is, I said girl watching. He said active sport, I said girl chasing.., For me it was not just baseball, I got left out for all the games. 8^)

Peter, Paul and Mary did a song called “Right Field”. It’s great.

My son played hockey here in Buffalo NY. The team got a chance to play in Toronto at their big stadium. For two periods the coach only played the better players. After the second period the parents went to the dressing room and were bent on killing a coach who didn’t know enough that all the kids wanted a chance to be on the ice at Toronto’s pro stadium. By the way, the game wasn’t close. No chance against the Canadians.

Throckmorton (isn’t that the kid’s name?) could be Asst. coach if he can be trained to hold a clipboard!!
