Oh, hell to the yes! “Rain is a symphony” Amen, brother Puck, ever shall it be. (And don’t think we missed the rain cloud coffee mug on the headboard…)
On the west coast of the United States, the afternoon light was dimming. Birds were returning to their nests and dogs walked in circles before laying down on “their spot”. Cats moved through picket fences and joined together in back yards or between garages or in the gaps that were supposedly fixed but still allow passage into basements. And on a long, hot stretch of cinder blocks, a lone grey tabby followed her shadow. Time to leave.
“You ok, kitten?” Megan knew the answer, but also knew it was good to ask the question. It would bring focus back to them, and what needed to be done. “Oh, yeah. Yeah. You saw the kids?” Megan chuckled; “You come from good stock.” Then Tre-C laughed; “You know the people kept one of her last litter, right?” “Uh-huh. ‘Braveheart’. I’d love to hear the story of how he got THAT name.” And Tre-C and Megan had a good laugh and reflected on the day. “I spent some time with Jet and her daughter DeeDee. They talk in very good terms about the old Man and the Woman. They’d take you back without question.” Tre-C gave this a good, long thought. “I know. And it’s tempting. But I’m ready for more. Whatever you want to throw at me.” Megan just nodded. So, together- as they had come- two cats, otherwise unnoticed and worthy of no more than a passing glance to the unknowing eye, walked down the concrete driveway.
Cats can’t talk, of course. Any human will tell you that. But there is a look a cat has that can convey an idea without having to say a word. In this case, the message was; “Don’t worry about me, I’ll be back,” and that was the look Tre-C gave to the old Man and the Woman as she and Megan walked away…
Panel 2. Are Puck’s whiskers showing or is it static “hat head” from the rain gear? Normally I’d go with hat head but rain is usually cuts down the static.
Years ago, I had a friend with a cat name Sunshine. When it was little, it liked to curl up on her human’s shoulder, so the human would say “Sunshine’s on my shoulder.” (And only old, intense John Denver fans will get THAT joke!)
Still no rain for us in the BC lower mainland. We were supposed to get showers today but it was just cloudy in the am, no drops fell. And now it’s supposed to be hot and sunny again starting Sunday.
The big problem is all the thunderstorms in the rest of the province setting off new fires in the tinder dry regions. Our fires aren’t as bad as last year or anywhere near as bad as California’s but there’s over 450 of them scattered across the province, a good dose of rain would help us all out. Ontario’s been badly hit this year too, I hope they get a break soon too
. . . we are on Day #3 of our mob surveillance of our book case. They have been taking turns on both sides. At first, we thought it was a bug, though now, we have to accept the possibility that it could be a mouse? While, I admire their dedication to duty, I’m just hoping that it isn’t a mouse, that I will find some early morning at my bedroom door. Eeew! :p
What a lovely strip today, just like everyday. But nice to see families nap together. On another note, it is nice to see posts from all other States and countries and know how others are doing. Hope everyone is doing as well as they can.
Rain is when the cats release all their stored, excess snoozons. It’s easier then because the higher humidity reduces static, and they can travel farther and faster.
All the talk of songs about rain has had a tune bouncing around in my brain all day. It has finally come to me & boy, does it show my age: The Rain, The Park & Other Things, by the Cowsills.

LOL, Lupin! He’s reminding me of when Blossom goes under the covers but her tail is still visible.
Such brave nappers! Keep calm and nap on!

That’s the cutest I’ve ever seen Elvis, and I love the raincloud coffee mug.
I hope they’re listening to “Love, Rain O’er Me” and not “Rainy Day Women #’s 12 and 35.”

How can I be sure,
When the weather’s constantly changing,
How can I be sure,
Where to nap with you?
Whenever I,
Whenever I see the sunny rays,
I want to nap,
And sleep away all the day!
How do I know?
Whether it is fair or rainy,
The nap can be subject to changing,
Curl up or stretch out depends.
When ever I,
Whenever I see the rain come down,
A symphony,
Makes its way throughout the town!
Maybe I’ll just
Curl up in bed,
With the blankets over my head,
It’s so lovely,
Sleeping with all of my
Family, wishing the day wouldn’t end!
How can I be sure?
I really, really want to nap!
I really, really want to nap, Oh!
How’s the weather?
As long as the family’s together,
I love it, I love it forever!
Safe in bed’s where I will be found!
How can I be sure?
When the weather’s constantly changing,
How can I be sure?
I am sure with you!

If sunshine is one note and rain is a symphony, a hurricane is a Wagnerian opera.
