When my mother-in-law was diagnosed with diabetes Type 2, first she only took Metformin as I do. My mon was the same type but had to be on insulin. Mum insisted on eating all kinds of the wrong foods and so on, and of course, she had to go on insulin.
Did I say I told you so? Dang right I did, and since I was going to say it once, I made full use of it!
Now if I could just get her to eat properly sigh She weighs something like 140kg (that’s about 300 in pounds)! She had to tell me the honest weight when I was ordering a walker for her sigh
You can lead a mother in law to a healthy diet but you sure can’t make her eat it! I hope she’s starts making better choices so you can have her around for a while.
This follows the typical lie formula of “I hate to xxx, but will xxx anyway”, with xxx = complain, criticize, b*tch, be rude, fart at the table, etc.. It is an introduction to, and a denial at the same time, of what they are about to do!

Maybe this would be better, “I’m not one to gloat, but neener-neener-neener.”
That being said, if a person is right in something they have a right to gloat, although they don’t always have to exercise that right.

In Spanish the favorite expression is ¿Qué he dicho? or ¿Qué te dije? ( “What have I said ?” or “What did I tell you ?” )

Proverbs 27:15-16
A quarrelsome wife is like a constantly leaking roof on a rainy day.
Whoever can restrain her can restrain the wind
And can grip oil with his right hand.
(We all know Earl is just not up to the task. Poor Earl.)
