(Back after a three and a half month hiatus while I moved back to Maine from New Hampshire.)
The story of Alpha Cat continues.
The summer – even up here in furthest north Maine – has been horribly warm and sticky. This has led to the feline flock deciding to live outdoors as much as it can. Alpha Cat has taken advantage of this change in behavior and has formed his Cat Parliament which consists of him, his Lieutenant Felix, Clifford, Caroline, Beast and three of the neighbors’ cats as well.
This Band of Feline Brothers moves around in a pack under Alpha Cats’ leadership. You can find them in the vegetable garden, each in a cool, shaded self-dug foxhole or. perhaps all laying in the middle of the road. It’s a quiet road and, thus far, nobody living on the road ha failed to slow down and carefully navigate between the feline obstacles. (I know, I know, but Alpha Cat says it must be done and short of locking them all in the house there’s no way to stop them from doing it.) One neighbor reports driving homewards and having Alpha Cat deliberately move to prevent him from driving anywhere near any of his flock. I swear that cat would be willing to face down a pride of lions if he felt he had to – I do know that he has successfully faced down bears and pit bulls before now.
You guys know some dumb dogs, Agreed, they are out there. But we have all these drug-sniffers and K-9s, not to mention agility dogs. Nobody seems to find a cat they can train with those skills. So let dogs be dogs, and let cats be useless cats.
Good morning and happy Tuesday/Bluesday/Mewsday, Graham Crackers! It’s going to be a stinky hot one and I have to haul Paul out in it to get weekly blood work done. Wish me luck, I think he’s going to fight me on this.
I took my part Maine Coon, Tabby, to the vet for his annual checkup. He is now 13 years old. Last year he had lost 2 pounds and the vet was concerned. He gained 1 pound this year to 12.7, which is good. He got a 3 year rabies vaccine, a leukemia vaccine and feline distemper vaccine. He growled at each shot and then meekly went back into his carrier. He is a little unhappy with me now but in good health. And to top off his day, we were hit with a train of thunderstorms that dumped over a half inch of rain (not nearly as bad as New Jersey’s flooding). Tabby hates thunder and the sound of heavy rain. So he spent most of the evening cowering in his “bunker” in the basement. All in all, not a good day for Tabby.

We had a very successful garage sale this last weekend! Made over $500 and I got rid of a lot of clothes gathering dust in my closet!
Sold some furniture and appliances too.
Everyone was so nice, my cousin came and helped and sold a bunch of stuff too.
Very satisfying!
