I was at one funeral (used to be in Honor Guard) where friends and relatives left things in the coffin. His sister was getting visibly upset over the cans of beer, packs of cigarettes, and more than a few Playboy Playmate foldouts that were put in there. Not sure if they removed the stuff before closing the lid.

There are graves in the local cemetary where people leave cans of beer in memory of the deceased. Pity about the plastic flowers, though.
